Stop Smoking – Hillside and Pool

 

I wonder if you can imagine being on a hillside somewhere on a nice day. Imagine you are out there in the country, walking along. As you walk along you come to a valley amongst the hills. Down below it all looks cool and inviting.

You can see a path  going down and you follow it.  As you go down the path you feel things begin to change. Its cool, dark and secluded and you feel comfortable and relaxed.

You come to some water, its trickling down some rocks like a small waterfall, all mossy, soft and gentle. By the side of the waterfall, there are steps going down into the area of a pool. You begin to go down those steps. There are 10 steps down.

Each step down that you take, you feel more and more relaxed with each step, more at ease.

As you stand there, you think about drifting further and further and you begin to dream about the pool and wonder what is deep down below that pool. Then you see your reflection in the pool.

And you can see yourself there,  going through your day. Your having a cigarette, then a few more during the day. In between you are doing normal things that you usually do, but everything goes dark and is another day. But this day is different . On this new day you decide to touch the water of the pool, sending ripples on the surface. The ripples change all the ideas that you had. Now you can see yourself waking up and getting up.

You see yourself from before and imagine rolling your own, and watch yourself light it. No….. not quite lighting it as you can see something different about the cigarette.

It looks and feels the same but somehow different. As you are holding the flame to it, the flame moves , it turns and curls and it gets sucked into the end of the cigarette. You feel the taste in your mouth and its horrible…. It almost tastes like….. like pungent excrement. Its filling your mouth and throat. It’s a horrible taste and smell. Imagine that now for a moment. (it’s a pungent excrement (replace this with something the client hates the taste of in their mouth) taste and smell – it is the worst taste and smell that you hate –

It also feels like there are hooks in your smoke! Clawing at your insides. You spit the cigarette out because it is sooooooo bad, but the horrible taste is still in your mouth. It smells and tastes like pungent excrement – REVOLTING!!

You hurry to the bathroom and brush your teeth. You look in the mirror and see relief on your face – relief you didn’t smoke that cigarette.

You rinse your mouth out now to feel clean and fresh. The taste of a cigarette disgusts you now. You are back looking in the pool now, going about your day and you become aware of a presence, its your mind telling you to smoke again!

You give in and roll a  cigarette , but as soon as you touch it and put it in your mouth, your lips feel as though they are burning. Its like a burning chemical on your lips, they feel REALLY hot, throbbing. You feel as if your lips are going to break open in sores.

The mere smell of the cigarette is now disgusting to you. Again you run to the bathroom to splash your face with water until your lips cool down.

You now smile in the mirror, you are happy you haven’t had a cigarette. You don’t want a cigarette ever again. If ever you feel tempted, you will feel nauseous and sick and close to vomiting  as it will taste of pungent excrement and burn your lips.

Now when you feel tempted, go and brush your teeth, make your mouth feel fresh and clean. Or if you are unable to clean your teeth, a cool refreshing glass of water if just as comforting.

Cigarettes have no place in your life now. You ARE a non-smoker.

When you are around smokers, you realise that is their problem. You can enjoy socialising without a cigarette.

If you are tempted to smoke, remember the awful taste they give you and the pain. If you cant brush your teeth, then take a drink of cool refreshing water as the thought of that horrible taste in your mouth makes you want to gag and spit. Walk away from cigarettes, they will harm you. Cigarettes are now other peoples problems, other peoples poison.

Your body rejects them, rejects everything about smoking and Tabacco. It revolts you. Every puff is now a danger to you. You will never smoke again.

If you are offered a cigarette, you will get that horrible feeling and taste sensation again. So in future, you refuse and say NO. No, they make me sick. Each time you do this, it gets easier and reinforces the suggestions you have heard today.

None of this bothers you anymore, you are free now.

You are looking at that pool again. You see your reflection, you are waking and getting up with a big smile. You feel fresh and clean being a non-smoker. You’ll never again have to put up with that disgusting habit.

You see yourself going through your normal day, but there are no cigarettes there now. That IS a thing of the past……You are feeling proud, happy and secure. As you eat lunch, you notice how food tastes so much better now. As you walk around, you notice how much easier it is breathing in fresh air, bigger lungfuls of it which is helping your lungs recovering back to full capacity.

You are free from being a smoker. You are safe. You are healthier.

As you turn around now, to walk back up those 10 steps……. From 1 to 10, each step UP is moving you further and further away from that disgusting and unhealthy and dangerous habit.

You are leaving it down there at the bottom of the steps.

5 – look back on that habit and see it for what it is. A horrible disgusting habit. Carry on walking up to the sunlight

Your habit is DESTROYED. It is DEAD behind you now. You no longer want or need it.

You are ready to come back to the here and now……on the hillside where you started your journey.

Open your arms, and take in a deep breath of the clean fresh air. Be grateful that you have left smoking behind and that you can now be free. Clean and Clear.

Your body will thank you too for allowing it to heal and become healthier. Thank yourself for prolonging your life, making your loved ones very grateful.
